Dr. Jennifer Luz is a board certified Sports Medicine Physiatrist specializing in a holistic and biomechanical approach utilizing both ultrasound guided interventional and non-operative methods to treat and prevent injury, improve performance and enhance overall health for child, adolescent and adult athletes of all skill levels. Dr. Luz specializes in ultrasound-guided diagnostics, utilizing in-office imaging to diagnose a variety of joint, muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries and also specializes in ultrasound-guided procedures to treat these conditions.

After completing medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Luz completed residency training at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Harvard Medical School PM&R program. She completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School program. During training, she developed a strong commitment to teaching and academics, participating on the Tufts University School of Medicine admissions committee, Resident-Fellows Council as Regional Delegate, the Association of Academic Physiatrists as Medical Student Affairs Representative, and on the Harvard Medical School PM&R Clerkship as the Resident Coordinator. During her training she won the Manuel J Lipson MD Award for the development of her PM&R department, the Resident Physician Community Service Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges, and the Medical Sports Medicine Fellows Research Award at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Luz is currently Clinical Instructor of Orthopedics at Tufts University School of Medicine. She is also co-director of the Tufts University School of Medicine PM&R Residency ultrasound curriculum. She is a faculty member of the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center Anesthesia Pain Management Fellowship.

Dr. Luz has authored numerous physiatry and sports medicine articles in leading journals, and she lectures both locally and nationally. In addition to her passion of serving the sports medicine community, she has become an active advocate and dedicated provider for the Tactical Athlete population, including Law Enforcement, Fire Service, and EMS. She has lectured locally in Boston and across the state, both at the academy and active duty level. She has co-founded the Tactical Athlete Wellness Clinic with Dr. Michael Hamrock.

Dr. Luz joined our Orthopedic Department in 2016. In 2019, she assumed a role as Director of Medical Sports Medicine for Steward Medical Group. She is currently in the process of expanding the non-operative services for our patients including ultrasound diagnosis and guided procedures. Additionally, she has initiated the new Concussion Management Program at the Boston Sports Performance Center. She is building the Regenerative Medicine clinic, including Platelet Rich Plasma and Tenex procedures.
